WHERE WE STARTED
Our Story
Yang Li grew up in Beijing, China, where she completed her K-12 education. After college, she became an educational counselor at one of China's largest private schools. In 2004, Yang relocated to Canada for graduate studies, where she met her husband, Mike, who was attending Kettering University in Flint, Michigan. Soon after finishing their programs, Yang moved with Mike to Michigan, pursuing a specialist certification in K-12 curriculum and instruction while teaching in a classroom.
Yang Li founded Global Intuition to deliver unique educational experiences. In 2007, she organized the first international exchange for 18 Chinese students, followed by a reciprocal program for 25 American students and administrators to visit China. The organization now facilitates partnerships and educational exchanges between Chinese and US schools, impacting over 4,000 students in the last 19 years.
Yang holds a Michigan K-12 teaching certification, a bachelor’s degree in English (with a minor in Business Administration) from North China University of Technology, a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Brock University, Canada, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State University in Michigan.
Yang moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 2005. In addition to overseeing Global Intuition initiatives, she continues her role as an adjunct professor at Macomb Community College, where she has served for 19 years. She and her husband, Mike, have resided in Michigan for 21 years and have raised two daughters who are fluent in Chinese.
Yang divides her time between Michigan and China to sustain partnerships and deliver specialized educational programs.

Mission & Vision
OUR MISSION
Together we can make this world a little bit smaller.
OUR VISION
Expand cultural understanding and diversity to younger generations.
“Our goal is to create a true ‘global classroom’ where our students bring not just cultural diversity, but different perspectives and unique ideas driven by their cultural and geographic ideals and norms. We envision not only sharing international culture and values, but also spurring in-depth classroom discussion in areas such as human rights, government, freedoms, environment, and economics.”
